The goal of the VIASANO programme is to help prevent childhood obesity and overweight by supporting families in healthy choices. The programme was set up in January 2007 in 3 Belgian regions. In 2020, Viasano continues in 13 French-speaking towns in Brussels and Wallonia.

The concept behind the VIASANO programme is to engage all the local actors involved in people’s daily life (the services of the city, schools, associations, doctors, companies, retailers, et cetera).

How? By providing training, methodologic support, tools and services.
The programme starts with political commitment from the mayor the elected who signs a charter for 2 years. Then the VIASANO city appoints a project manager, who is in charge of setting up the programme locally with the help of local actors.
