Healthier Kids - Ajyal Salima, Lebanon

Ajyal Salima is a school-based programme aiming to promote healthy eating and physical activity among schoolchildren. Launched in Lebanon in 2010, it has expanded and is now replicated into four countries in the Middle East, through partnerships with the private sector, local authorities and experts. Ajyal Salima encompasses three components that include interactive and hands-on classroom educational activities on healthy eating and physical activity, parental involvement and interventions in the school-shops.

The programme is evidence-based and the pilot study showed that the intervention had significantly improved knowledge and dietary behaviors among children

This program is a great example of the power and impact of concerted efforts between the private and public sectors.
