Granny’s Health Bag
The ”Granny's Health Bag. Healthy traditions for healthy children” Program was launched at Iasi (Romania) in 2012. The program is a community-based program that aims to develop healthy behaviors by promoting cultural traditions.
The program was awarded by the European Community with the first prize – the 2020 EU Health Award for the best initiative at the level of community (Iași city) to promote a healthy lifestyle.
In this programme, the children easily learn about the elements of a healthy lifestyle, helped by a magic bag: ”Granny’s Health Bag”. A traditional bag (traista, in Romanian) is used to teach students how to live a healthy and successful life. The meaningful events of the folktale characters - the goat, the three kids, and the bad wolf - help the children to recognize what is good and what is bad for their health.
